Want valuable student work placement experience for your CV?
If you are serious about developing a career in Marketing, PR or Advertising, we will provide you with your first step on the ladder in exchange for a little of your free time!
Make sure you stand out from the crowds of unhappy job hunters and unemployed graduates, by being able to shout about the professional work experience that you successfully completed while studying. Employers are often keen to recruit a graduate with a relevant degree, but need is to minimise the risk of taking on someone who can't yet prove they can perform in the work place. The work experience you can attain here is flexible to suit your availability and can be completed while you study. It will allow you to show future employers that you can hit the ground running, that you are already familiar with a wide array of tasks beneficial to their industry and that you have developed a professional work ethic, amidst other candidates that never bothered to go the extra mile.

As a student work placement, you get to work as part of our full time team in our lively and dymanic head office (in Leeds). You will be given plenty of instruction and with the help of our experienced marketing professionals, you will learn how to carry out some of the following types of tasks:
- CAMPAIGN MANAGEMENT: Learn how to organise and execute large scale nationwide promotional marketing initiatives, for a wide range of national well known brands. You will help to co-ordinate field marketing teams across the country, manage their activites and create reports to update our clients.
- CUSTOMER DATABASE SOFTWARE: It's amazing, but universities don't teach how to use CRM software that keeps track and manages relationships with business contacts. You will learn how to categorise, expand and manage the mix of databases which we use to communicate to our audiences.
- DIRECT MARKETING: Help to create and to fulfil effective direct marketing campaigns such as brochures, letters, e-mailers and online social media updates.
- SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION: We will show you how to maintain Link Communication's number one, page one rank on Google and other major search engines.Type in "product sampling" onto Google; and see the results pay off for yourself!
- PUBLIC RELATIONS: Creation, despatch and following up of press releases, article creation and submission, blogs, newsletter editing - to a mix of industry trade press, business magazines, web sites, and other internal and external communication media channels.
- HUMAN RESCOURCES: Ever want to know what it's like on the other side of the job interview table? You can help us to vet promo staff who apply to work with us and evaluate their suitability to work on our prestigious campaigns.

Don't worry, we don't expect you to run the business for us! We will show you the ropes, but you will need to give us:
- TIME: Ideally one day per week as a minimum for an agreed set period (eg: a term). This can be completed as a full day, or perhaps split into two half days if needed. That way, we can invest the time in training you up on a range of different areas; and we all see the benefit from a longer term arrangement.
- COMMITMENT: For it to be worth anything on your own CV, you should be able to commit to working the agreed duration of time. All employers want to see that you have the staying power in your chosen career path, to be worth them investing in.
- FOCUS: When you're at work, we need you to be switched on, charged up and ready to undertake the projects we assign to you with energy and bags of enthusiasm. This isn't a lazy lecture theatre where you can get away with doodling on your note pad!
- SKILLS: We will train you up across a range of specialist areas, but we expect perfect English (both written and verbal) to come as standard. Your communication to our publics must look and sound professional, at all times.
- SELF RELIANCE: You will be expected to be able to get yourself to and from work each day. (Our office is located in west Leeds, on Kent Road, in Pudsey). We are well connected with a near by bus station, a walk-able train station and ample parking too.
