Brief:
Link Communication provided high-calibre promotion staff to hand out print and to inform customers of the seasonal discount offers on white goods available in the 80 selected Tesco Extra Stores, in the build up to and during the January Sale.
Campaign Description
- Promotion staff handed out print to all customers entering and exiting the store in the peak shopping days leading up to the sale, to raise advance awareness and generate interest in the products being offered.
- During the sale week, the field teams approached every customer entering the store, actively selling in specific offers and letting customers know where in the store the items were located.
- Teams were kitted out in Tesco Sale-branded T-shirts.
- All staff were comprehensively briefed to be 'Tesco Brand Ambassadors'. This ensured a comprehensive knowledge of the Tesco White Goods range with all staff able to answer FAQs relevant to the sale, and confidently articulate all available offers to any interested parties.
Results:
- 8,000 leaflets were handed out in the critical days at each of the 80 selected stores.
- A total of 640,000 leaflets were distributed on schedule across all locations of the UK.
- Tesco’s head office team and individual store managers from across the UK were extremely happy with the performance of the staff with compliments coming in from around the UK, in terms of both impact on sales and quality of field teams.
- Tesco reported “record” sales figures for their Christmas White Goods sales.
