Brief:
To raise awareness and prompt downloads of WideRay Bluetooth software products, by encouraging football fans watching the first England match in selected pubs and bars to switch on the Bluetooth function on their mobile phones, on Sat 10th June.

Campaign Description:
Link Communication provided high-calibre promotion teams to verbally explain details of the promotion, and distributed print to sports fans in the build-up to England's opening World Cup match, inside and outside of selected city centre bars and pubs.
The teams introduced themselves to bar managers as being from WideRay, explained the purpose of the promotion to the venue managers and sought permission to carry out the activity inside the pub / bar. Where permission was given, the teams approached customers and asked those with Bluetooth phones to switch them on for free football downloads.
The teams also displayed print on tables, ledges and bathrooms and handed out information directly to customers as they sat / stood inside the venue before the game began. The promotion staff also handed out print material to football fans as they approached the selected venue or as they queued to gain access.
Results:
- Over 50,000 leaflets were distributed across 10 cites during a 4-hour shift.
- WideRay were delighted with the activity and reported over 1,000 successful sign-ups as a direct result of the campaign.
